SK Broadband said on Tuesday it signed a business agreement with SK Telecom and the Korea Social Security Information Service to drive digital innovation in the social security sector and lay foundations for future growth.

The signing ceremony was held on Sept. 14 in the main conference room of the Korea Social Security Information Service in Gwangjin district, Seoul. The three organisations will use AI, quantum security and cloud technologies held by SK Broadband and SK Telecom to pursue the agency's digital transformation and advance welfare services.

They plan to form a joint working consultative body, identify cooperation tasks combining expertise in the public sector with private-sector technology, and draw up specific implementation plans.

Key cooperation tasks include a proof-of-concept for an AI autonomous security operation system based on post-quantum cryptography (PQC); early identification of welfare-crisis households using telecommunications information and support for AI counselling technology; support for stronger security using PQC and applying wired and wireless quantum communications; and technical support to build and operate hardware, software and security systems in the cloud.

In particular, the plan is to improve the security and stability of welfare systems in preparation for the spread of quantum computers through the proof-of-concept for the PQC-based AI autonomous security operation system.

Kim Gu-young (김구영), head of SK Broadband's Enterprise Business Division, said, "This agreement will be an important opportunity to enhance the digital competitiveness of welfare services that people can feel."
