Mobilint has started cooperation with SDT to combine quantum cryptography technology with an AI mobility platform. AI chip company Mobilint said on Tuesday it signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with quantum technology specialist SDT to converge AI-based control technology for manned and unmanned mobility platforms with QRNG and QKD-based quantum cryptography. The agreement aims to jointly research and commercialise next-generation secure and intelligent mobility platform technologies for public and private sectors.
SDT is a QDM (Quantum Design & Manufacturing) company that leads the commercialisation of quantum technologies such as quantum computing, quantum cloud, quantum communications and quantum sensing. It is promoting the introduction of quantum technology at industrial sites through the design and manufacture of ultra-precision devices, parts and equipment, and is pursuing technology expansion on the global stage.
Under the agreement, Mobilint's high-performance, low-power NPU-based AI control technology will be combined with SDT's QRNG and QKD quantum cryptography technologies. The companies will proceed step by step with joint R&D on AI-based manned and unmanned mobility platforms and control technologies and quantum cryptography, technology development through sharing resources such as personnel, facilities, equipment and technologies, internal and external promotion and academic dissemination of joint research results, and identifying and building certification systems to support demonstration research and secure reliability.
They will also cooperate on technology demonstrations and developing business models applicable across private industry, including in public areas where security and reliability are important. They plan to accelerate efforts to build a next-generation mobility platform ecosystem combining AI and quantum technologies.
Mobilint CEO Shin Dong-ju said, "Adding quantum cryptography, a future technology, to edge AI technology will be an opportunity to raise the security of on-device environments by another level." He added, "We will implement advanced security solutions that go beyond physical security through quantum cryptography technology, and continue to maintain technological advantages in the industry."
SDT CEO Yoon Ji-won said, "The most important thing in unmanned mobility platforms such as autonomous driving robots or drones is the 'security' of communications and data." He added, "By adding SDT's quantum cryptography technology to Mobilint's outstanding AI semiconductor technological capabilities, we will create the safest AI mobility standard without worries about hacking."
