China develops AI missile system to identify F-22, F-35 stealth fighters, claims over 90 percent accuracy

Chinese researchers claim they have developed a lightweight AI system that can identify U.S. F-22 and F-35 stealth fighters by analysing infrared heat signatures, recording more than 90 percent recognition accuracy in laboratory conditions. The study focuses on infrared signals rather than radar cross-section and also aims to distinguish aircraft from flares. The researchers tested simulation targets reflecting the jets’ thermal characteristics, and verification against real aircraft has not been confirmed.

DB HiTek to transfer used equipment free of charge to public nanofabs

DB HiTek will transfer idle used semiconductor equipment free of charge to nanofab institutes participating in the MoaFab platform, the Ministry of Science and ICT said. The equipment will be used for core semiconductor process R&D and technology demonstration support. An 8-inch high-temperature heat-treatment deposition tool will be installed at the National Nanofab Center, and an 8-inch dry etching and surface-coating tool will go to the Nano Convergence Technology Institute.

SpaceX orbital data centre plan may need up to 42 launches a day

SpaceX\'s plan for an orbital data centre envisioned as future AI infrastructure is technically feasible, but major obstacles remain before commercialisation, an analysis said. The biggest challenge is building an unprecedented satellite constellation and launch system. The concept includes operating 1 million satellites producing 120 GW and using tens of millions to 100 million GPUs. Analysts cited heavy satellite mass, cooling limits in space, huge manufacturing and network costs, and communications latency as constraints.
