If Earth warms 2 degrees C, 650 million children face an extra month of extreme heat - study
Climate change is exposing about 560 million children under 10 worldwide to at least 30 additional days of heat stress each year, a study found. That is nearly three times the number of people aged 60 to 69 facing the same level of added heat stress. The burden is concentrated in tropical, low-income regions including South and Southeast Asia and West Africa. If global warming reaches 1.5 degrees C, affected children could rise to 620 million, and to 650 million at 2 degrees C.

SK Shieldus\' physical security brand ADT Caps said on Tuesday it is strengthening its response to extreme heat to protect the health and working conditions of staff responsible for customer sites. Chief Executive Min Gi-sik and Chief Safety and Health Officer Shin Woo-chul inspected summer safety management at branches in Daegu and Yangsan and encouraged field staff. The company said it is expanding support and checking workers\' condition to prevent heat-related illness.

KTis said on Thursday it is operating a service that calls Kakao Taxi on behalf of digitally vulnerable groups such as older people. Users call 02-114, provide their departure point and destination, and an agent requests a taxi via Kakao T and relays the dispatch result. The service can be used by phone without installing an app or signing up. It operates daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. nationwide.
