Hana Bank will open its branches nationwide as public rest areas in preparation for summer heatwaves and heavy rain.
Hana Bank said on May 19 it will operate 'heatwave shelters' at branches nationwide that anyone can use.
The 'heatwave shelters' will operate until Sept. 30 during banking hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Anyone can use them freely, even if they are not Hana Bank customers. Cold bottled water will also be provided free of charge.
Hana Bank also plans to operate 'cold wave shelters' in preparation for winter cold spells after running the summer shelters.
A Hana Bank official said, "We hope the heatwave shelters will be a comfortable space where people can stop briefly to avoid heatwaves and heavy rain." The official added, "We will continue to provide practical support for local residents who face difficulties due to natural disasters."
