[DigitalToday reporter Ji-young Lee (이지영)] KB Kookmin Bank will open its branches nationwide as shelters to help people get through summer safely.
KB Kookmin Bank said on May 15 it will operate heatwave and cold wave shelters inside branches nationwide.
The move follows a business agreement signed last month between KB Kookmin Bank and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to promote use of heatwave and cold wave shelters.
Visitors can use the shelters at nearby branches regardless of whether they do business with KB Kookmin Bank. They can avoid heatwaves in summer and cold snaps in winter in branch consultation rooms or customer waiting areas equipped with heating and cooling facilities.
Summer heatwave shelters will operate from May 15 to Sept. 30. Winter cold wave shelters are to run from Nov. 15 to March 15 next year.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the same as regular business hours. At the "9To6 Bank" branches, the shelters can be used until 6 p.m.
A KB Kookmin Bank official said, "We hope KB Kookmin Bank becomes a cool and comfortable place to rest in summer."
