Shinhan Bank will operate its branches nationwide as “heatwave shelters” to reduce damage from summer heatwaves.

Shinhan Bank said on Sunday it will operate its branches nationwide as “heatwave shelters” through Sept. 30.

The move follows a business agreement signed with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to promote the use of heatwave shelters.

Shinhan Bank attached guidance stickers at branches so residents can easily check whether they can use them. It also plans to strengthen air-conditioning and management of waiting areas inside branches.

A Shinhan Bank official said, "We hope it will help local residents rest and prevent heat-related illnesses." The official added, "We will continue activities to support local communities and energy-vulnerable groups."
