BCMCC to provide training for high school students nationwide on responding to deepfakes and hate speech
The Broadcasting and Media Communications Commission will provide media ethics education for high school students nationwide. Starting Sept. 4, it will run a programme for prospective creators for schools recommended by education offices in six regions that have signed agreements with the commission, as well as other high schools that applied in advance. The course covers media ethics, review rules and violation cases, and mock review exercises, including responses to sexual deepfakes and discriminatory and hate expressions.

Toss Bank, FSS to pilot financial education for children in hospital schools
Toss Bank and South Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service are expanding financial education to children attending hospital schools, launching a pilot of the “Visiting FSS Children’s Financial School.” The first session was held on Aug. 19 at Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital’s Raphael Children’s School. The programme will run sequentially at three hospital schools, including Samsung Medical Center, through September. Lessons cover money, rational spending and fraud prevention, with delivery by Pitchmarket.

KT provides AI skills and ethics education at Busan arts middle school
KT is providing programmes to build AI use skills and digital ethics awareness among middle school students in Busan. KT said it held hands-on AI capability and ethics education at Busan Arts Middle School on Aug. 27 with the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education and the Korea Press Foundation. Students tried generative AI, board games and team missions, used a mobile AI experience centre and watched a media literacy play developed by the foundation.
