South Korea's National AI Strategy Council and the National Education Council on Thursday jointly held the "Education Policy Cooperation Forum in the AI Transition Era" at Seoul Square in Jung-gu, Seoul.

The forum focused on sharing the status of related policy efforts and discussing cooperation measures so that AI talent development through education does not remain limited to projects by individual ministries and institutions. A total of 23 institutions attended, including the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and ICT, metropolitan and provincial education offices and public institutions.

At the event, five metropolitan and provincial education offices, including Seoul, Incheon, Daejeon, Gyeonggi and South Chungcheong, presented progress in promoting AI education. Public institutions such as the Korea Educational Development Institute, the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity introduced directions for research and policy support related to AI talent development.

Kim Hyun-chul (김현철), education task force leader at the National AI Strategy Council, shared the direction for 추진 in the education sector under the AI action plan. He stressed the need to set AI talent development as a core national strategy and strengthen links between education policy and AI policy.

In a panel discussion, participants discussed role-sharing and cooperation measures among the national government, metropolitan and provincial education offices and institutions, focusing on teacher training, student education and policy coordination.

The two councils plan to use the forum as a momentum to jointly review education policy directions required in the AI transition period and establish a sustained cooperation framework.
