South Korea opens AI convergence innovation training center in Wonju to develop medical AI talent

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT will train AI convergence talent needed for the digital healthcare industry by leveraging medical infrastructure in Wonju. The ministry held an opening ceremony on Sept. 17 for the AI Convergence Innovation Training Center in Wonju. The center aims to train 160 people this year through courses including data analysis, medical AI model development and robot control, and will expand training in medical data and robotics from next year.

LG Display\'s Jeon, Exosystems\' Lee win Korea Engineer Award for September

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Industrial Technology Association selected Exosystems CEO Lee Hoo-man and LG Display engineer Jeon Chang-hoon as September 2026 Korea Engineer Award recipients. Lee was recognized for developing an AI-based digital biomarker to help diagnose sarcopenia. Jeon won for developing AI-based optical correction technology for OLED panels to improve image uniformity and reduce correction time under very low luminance.

Securities CEOs head to Europe to seek investment opportunities in AI, digital finance and space industry

The Korea Financial Investment Association and a delegation of chief executives from 14 securities firms are visiting Germany and Luxembourg from Sept. 6 to 12 to seek investment opportunities and global cooperation in new growth sectors such as artificial intelligence, digital finance and the space industry. The group will attend IFA 2026 in Berlin and hold meetings in Luxembourg on financial cooperation, space industry commercialization and digital capital market infrastructure.
