Science ministry and National Police Agency hold AI policing R&D showcase
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Police Agency held the third Science Policing R&D achievements exhibition on Tuesday at the police headquarters in Seoul. The event featured five themed zones focused on AI, including investigation support, field support, public safety, robotics and mobility. Exhibits included an AI Raman spectrometer to identify narcotics and systems to detect deepfakes and AI-generated news.

Bamishimwi seeks corrections for 33,869 cases of digital sex crime content in H1 2026
The Broadcasting Media Communications Deliberation Committee requested corrective action such as deletion and access blocking for 33,869 cases of digital sex crime content in the first half of 2026. Illegal filming materials accounted for 18,604 cases, while deepfake sex crime videos totalled 15,179. The committee also reported 18,634 cases of voluntary measures by operators before formal review, up about 97 percent from a year earlier.

South Korea\'s Broadcast Media Communications Commission and the National Information Society Agency will run 2026 Digital Ethics Week through July 26, themed \"With AI, with ethics.\" The organisers prepared participatory online and offline programs to help people experience and practise AI ethics in daily life and online.
