The Broadcast Media Communications Commission and the National Information Society Agency (NIA) will run "2026 Digital Ethics Week" through July 26, they said on Sunday.
Now in its 17th year, Digital Ethics Week is held under the theme "With AI, with ethics." The commission and NIA prepared participatory online and offline programs so the public can experience and practise AI ethics in living spaces and online.
Offline events are organised in 4 areas: business districts, tourism hubs, leisure spaces and schools. At Gwanggyo Techno Valley and Naju Innovation City, participants will learn AI ethics principles needed in the workplace through activities such as finding AI ethics scenarios and quizzes.
At Jeju Airport and Gimpo Airport, organisers will run a mission roulette and quiz challenge under the theme "Safe travel, safe AI." At Yeouido Hangang Park and Daegu Ansim Library, they will offer programs for pledges to practise digital ethics and empathy voting.
For school managers such as principals and vice principals, organisers will provide special training to strengthen capacity to respond to changes in the education environment and related issues in schools in the AI era. The Digital Ethics website will offer a bingo game promoting guidelines to prevent deepfake victimisation. It will also run a digital ethics quiz with Baedal Minjok and provide discount coupons to participants.
The commission also plans to hold a prize event for participants who write reviews after taking part in offline events or post verification photos on their personal social media.
Kim Jong-cheol (김종철), chair of the commission, said, "We will expand various education and hands-on programs so people can learn and practise AI ethics easily and in a fun way."
