SKT launches AI for Everyone consortium to link AI services across eight sectors

SK Telecom will step up development of “AI for Everyone” by working with specialist companies and institutions across eight sectors including finance, education, healthcare, small businesses and mobility. The company said it held the consortium’s launch event on Sept. 9 at its T Tower in central Seoul. The project aims to build an end-to-end execution agent that analyses user requests and situations, connects suitable AI models and specialist services, and carries out follow-up work.

Meta to buy Swedish AI startup Stilla to speed WhatsApp, Instagram commerce AI

Meta has acquired Swedish AI startup Stilla.ai, Axios reported on Sept. 9. Meta plans to use the deal to speed development of its \"Meta Business Agent\" chatbot, which supports commerce on WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram, the report said. Stilla was founded in Stockholm in 2024 and raised $5 million in pre-seed funding in January after emerging from stealth mode. Meta plans to expand its business base in Sweden after the deal.

OpenAI aims to expand ChatGPT ads, targeting $1 billion a year

OpenAI has outlined plans to build ChatGPT into a major advertising platform combining strengths associated with Google search and Meta ads. CFO Sarah Friar said ChatGPT’s ad business reached a run-rate equivalent to $1 billion in annual revenue seven months after introducing ads. She said ChatGPT can use information from user conversations and stored memories to target ads to individuals. OpenAI is expanding ad formats and building its platform while preparing for a possible IPO.
