Six information security international standards finally approved, Korea speeds push to lead AI, 6G security standards

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said 6 international standards and 2 technical reports proposed by Korea were finally approved at an ITU-T SG17 meeting in Geneva held from June 1 to 10. It said 14 new standardisation items were also approved and 7 international standards were pre-adopted. The approved standards include software supply chain security threats and security guidelines for digital collection services using distributed ledger technology.

When will Ripple\'s XRP escrow run out? Former CTO answers

Ripple\'s XRP escrow could be depleted between 2035 and 2036 if its current operating pattern continues, a former executive said. XRPScan data show Ripple holds about 32.9 billion XRP in escrow, with 1 billion released monthly. Ripple has typically re-escrowed 700 million to 800 million XRP and used 200 million to 300 million. Former CTO David Schwartz said the timing is hard to pin down because it depends on assumptions and could change with business needs and market conditions.

South Korea government, 3 telecoms to recycle critical minerals from scrapped network equipment

South Korea\'s government and the country\'s three mobile carriers will cooperate to promote domestic circulation and reuse of rare earths and other critical minerals contained in scrapped telecommunications equipment. The Ministry of Science and ICT and the climate ministry signed an agreement on June 11 with SK Telecom, KT, LG Uplus, KCA and the Korea Environment Corporation. A pilot project will track disposal and distribution flows and support automation, facilities, and guidelines.
