Kakao shifts AI strategy from standalone apps to service links in KakaoTalk

Kakao\'s AI strategy is shifting from experiments with standalone applications to a KakaoTalk-centred approach that links AI with existing services inside its main messaging platform. Industry sources said the company will hold its if(kakao)26 developer conference on Oct. 13-14 in Yongin, themed \"Intelligence in every connection\". Kakao will end its standalone AI service Canana on Oct. 15, while continuing \"Canana in KakaoTalk\" and other AI offerings aimed at connecting users to services.

Samsung Electronics Service to offer emergency repairs during Chuseok holiday, run weekend care centres

Samsung Electronics Service will operate emergency repair services during the Chuseok holiday period. It said nine weekend care centres nationwide will provide repair services for phones, tablets and wearable devices on Sept. 26-27 by advance reservation. Service centres will be closed on Sept. 24, the first day of the holiday, and on Chuseok Day on Sept. 25. Eleven \"Baro Service\" outlets in Samsung Stores will also offer basic checks and protective film attachment.

South Korea selects 4 third-phase materials, parts and equipment specialised clusters, to provide 160 billion won over 5 years

South Korea has designated four new specialised clusters for the materials, parts and equipment industry to respond to supply chain reshuffling. The Industry Ministry selected South Gyeongsang for shipbuilding, Daejeon for defence, and North Jeolla and South Chungcheong for semiconductors. Private investment totals 7.7 trillion won, including 4 trillion won from demand companies. The government plans to provide 160 billion won over five years for R&D, infrastructure and workforce training.
