Windows annual licence prices rise, with bigger increases for higher-end PCs
Annual Windows licence prices have risen by an unusually large margin, with bigger increases for PCs using higher-end CPUs, HotHardware reported on Aug. 10, citing Taiwan\'s United Daily News (UDN). UDN cited Taiwan PC OEMs as saying the increases have already been reflected in market prices. Annual licence prices have risen by up to 10 percent, with the size of the increase varying by company. Asus and Acer units in Taiwan were at about 5 percent, it said.

Steam Deck LCD battery discontinuation risk averted as Valve keeps sales via iFixit
Concerns emerged that official replacement batteries for the Steam Deck LCD model could be discontinued, but Valve decided to keep supply going, allowing users to continue buying official batteries through iFixit. Inventory is expected to be secured from next week. The issue began after iFixit CEO Kyle Wiens said Valve had notified him of a possible halt to battery and display production. Valve later said iFixit would keep receiving the same OEM parts through Valve partners.
