MSIT to work with AMD on AI chips, help Korean NPUs expand globally
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT will cooperate with AMD to expand the domestic AI semiconductor ecosystem, including linking AMD CPUs and GPUs with Korean NPUs to build and test heterogeneous AI computing infrastructure. The ministry said it signed an MOU with AMD in San Francisco. The sides also plan cooperation in AI-based scientific research through NAIS. AMD plans to set up an AI Center of Excellence in South Korea and support university programs and joint research.

South Korea launches pilot ZEUS AI service for research equipment search and booking
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT will begin a pilot of the ZEUS AI search service from July 27, it said. ZEUS integrates and manages information on research facilities and equipment built with national R&D budgets and supports shared use across government. The new service lets researchers chat with AI to find and book equipment. It recommends suitable equipment based on research purpose, location and availability. The pilot runs on KT\'s private cloud.

MSIT launches Chungcheong information security cluster to grow regional security industry
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency on July 27 held an opening ceremony in Sejong for the Chungcheong Information Security Cluster. The cluster is designed to help spread information security firms, talent and infrastructure beyond the Seoul area and support co-growth with regional strategic industries. It provides office space, a security testbed and a cyber training facility, and will be linked to local industries such as smart cities, smart defense, converged bio and mobility.
