Korea, Italy to step up cooperation on AI, quantum, robotics
South Korea will strengthen cooperation with Italy in advanced science and technology and ICT, including artificial intelligence, quantum and robotics. The Ministry of Science and ICT signed an MOU with Italy’s Ministry of Universities and Research in Rome on June 12 during President Lee Jae-myung’s state visit. The two sides plan joint research, researcher exchanges, policy sharing and joint use of research facilities. Cooperation in basic science and priorities for future collaboration were also discussed.

AI-enabled smart glasses are entering the South Korean market in earnest, prompting calls to shore up on-site control rules. Authorities have detected repeated attempts to cheat on tests using smart glasses, raising concerns about gaps in exam supervision and school management. The devices resemble ordinary glasses while offering recording and AI search functions. Concerns also persist over illegal filming. The industry sees smart glasses as a growth opportunity, but wants clearer, risk-based standards by location.

RSUPPORT, a B2B solutions company, said on Wednesday it will offer a free consulting service to universities nationwide to help them respond to the RISE and ANCHOR projects. The service supports tailored IT infrastructure and space innovation based on each university’s project direction and operational tasks. RSUPPORT said it will provide consulting for project planning, budget reviews, defining infrastructure scope and preparing space utilisation plans.
