Audi will invest about $4 billion to build an SUV plant in Georgia, targeting annual output of up to 200,000 vehicles and about 4,500 jobs. U.S. President Donald Trump highlighted the project at a Republican campaign event as a result of his tariff policy ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections. The plan includes producing large SUVs such as the Q7, Q8 and Q9, with construction slated for 2027 and production planned for the early 2030s.

Instacart pursues sale, holds early talks with DoorDash and Uber
U.S. grocery delivery app Instacart is pursuing a sale, The Information reported on Oct. 23. The report said Instacart, valued at $12 billion, is reviewing sale options with investment banks and has held at least early-stage talks with DoorDash and Uber. A deal is uncertain, and an Uber official said discussions with Uber are not currently under way. The report said antitrust review could be an obstacle.

U.S. fossil power plans surge, new capacity share expands from 5 to 30 percent
Plans to build fossil-fuel power plants in the United States, led by natural gas, are rising at the fastest pace in more than a decade, an analysis said. A report by the Environmental Defense Fund and Atlas Public Policy found fossil fuels account for about 30 percent of planned new generating capacity as of the second quarter of 2026, up from 5 percent of capacity actually installed in 2024. Renewables remain cheaper on average, but policy and demand shifts are driving the change.
