Oracle launches compact database appliance for branch and remote sites
Oracle has unveiled an on-premises appliance, Base Database Cloud@Customer, designed to run its database at branch offices, remote sites and small business units. The system targets smaller deployments than the Exadata Cloud@Customer X11M. It comes as an 8U, 14-inch module with two servers based on AMD fifth-generation EPYC chips. It offers flash storage that can be expanded and supports triple mirroring, plus high availability and disaster recovery features.

Huawei may produce DRAM directly as vertical integration view resurfaces
Speculation has resurfaced that Huawei is building and operating DRAM production facilities in mainland China. TechRadar reported that Huawei is suspected of effectively controlling a DRAM plant through a joint structure with Shenzhen-based memory firm Qubulas, though Huawei has officially denied the claim. Analysts cite Chinese government support and U.S. export controls as factors behind the allegations. Industry watchers say in-house DRAM could bolster Huawei’s AI chip competitiveness.

H1 ICT exports hit record $253.9 billion as semiconductors, SSDs surge
South Korea’s first-half information and communications technology exports hit a record $253.86 billion, up 120.5% from a year earlier, as AI-related demand boosted shipments. Imports rose 31.3% to $93.21 billion, producing a $160.65 billion surplus. Semiconductors and solid-state drives led growth, together accounting for 83.7% of ICT exports. June ICT exports climbed to $57.29 billion, a monthly record.
