Kakao sets AI agent ethics framework from planning to operations

Kakao has created new AI ethics principles and an implementation framework to apply from service planning through operations as autonomous AI agents spread. The company unveiled the SPIRIT principles, the NORMA implementation method and related checklists at its if(kakao)26 developer conference in Yongin on Oct. 13. SPIRIT has six elements, including safety and privacy. Kakao plans to apply a new AI ethics checklist to services this year and strengthen checks for AI services aimed at children and teenagers.

AI firms step up race to secure workplace records as consent, security row spreads

OpenAI, Anthropic and Meta are developing AI agents to automate office work, lifting the value of internal workplace records. Employee emails, messenger chats and work documents are being traded as training data, fuelling privacy concerns. Business Insider reported that data brokers are buying records from both defunct startups and active firms, including offers worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Forecasts point to rising AI data spending, while cases at Meta and Google highlight consent and security issues.

Tab personal AI agent emerges at $300 million valuation

Personal AI agent startup Tab has emerged with a valuation of $300 million, TechCrunch reported. Brennan Arbes (브레넌 어브즈), Stafford Schlit (스태퍼드 슐릿) and Ammar Amdani (암마르 암다니) began developing it earlier this year. Users send tasks via iMessage or WhatsApp, and Tab carries them out. The investment included SV Angel, Bala Ventures and American Spirit. The company says it does not use user data to train AI.
