[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] Another personal AI agent startup, Tab, has emerged with a valuation of $300 million, TechCrunch reported on Tuesday.

The report said Tab is led by Brennan Arbes (브레넌 어브즈), Stafford Schlit (스태퍼드 슐릿) and Ammar Amdani (암마르 암다니), who began developing it early this year.

Users can text Tab what they need via iMessage or WhatsApp. Whether it is ordering groceries or finding a birthday gift, Tab takes care of it. Amdani said, "If you send it like texting someone you trust, Tab takes the load off." He said it also handles "bills, reservations, calls you keep putting off, and even looking after loved ones." He added, "Tab has its own phone number, computer and wallet." He said, "It does not just tell you how to do it. It does it."

The investment included SV Angel, Bala Ventures and American Spirit. Tab is currently growing users mainly through word of mouth and plans to release a new product soon, TechCrunch said.

Tab is one of several personal AI agents for individual users that have been launched recently. Personal AI agents such as Instinct and Meta Muse also handle daily tasks such as restaurant and travel reservations for users.

Amdani said, "Everyone is competing to build AI capabilities. A consumer AI race is under way." He said, "The company with the best demo does not necessarily win this race." He added, "The harder question is whether it is OK to bring AI into life." He said an AI assistant that reads emails, makes calls and buys things is only as useful as users trust it.

The company said Tab does not use user data to train AI. It stores payment cards in a separate vault that Tab cannot access. It does not carry out irreversible tasks without user approval. Amdani stressed, "Capability is basic, and trust is the product."
