The Korea Cable TV Association on Sept. 16 held the 67th Cable TV Local Channel Outstanding Programme Awards for the first and second quarters of 2026. It selected 16 winners from 93 nominees: 8 in news, 6 in regular programming and 2 in specials, it said.

In the first-quarter news category, selected works addressed issues closely tied to residents' lives, including community conflicts over expanding power facilities, social isolation among the elderly, rental deposit fraud and unlicensed river construction.

The winners were LG HelloVision Jeonbuk Broadcasting's "Jirisan Ramcheon 'Unlicensed Construction' Controversy... President: 'Check it with the Environment Ministry,'" SK Broadband Hanbit Broadcasting's "'Hundreds of Homeowners Disappear, Massive Rental Deposit Damage'...'Impossible to Estimate Scale of Damage,'" Nam Incheon Broadcasting's "In the Age of Isolation, Taking Responsibility for Loneliness" and DLive Gyeongdong Cable TV's "Dong Seoul Substation Expansion... Again as If It Never Happened?"

In the second-quarter news category, works covering housing polarization, the sustainability of local tourism, the use of neglected local assets and the limits of a multi-member constituency system made the list.

Selected works were SKB Gangseo Broadcasting's "As Villas Disappear, Seoul Is Being Split," LG HelloVision Haeundae Gijang Broadcasting's "BTS Fandom ARMY, Achievements and Tasks Left in Busan," SKB Saerom Broadcasting's "Dreams of Development Turn to Ruins" and DLive Gangdong Cable TV's "The Paradox of the Multi-Member Constituency System... Even If You Elect Five, Only the Two Major Parties."

In the regular category, 6 programmes featuring local culture and sports, travel and everyday life won awards.

For the first quarter, selected works were DLive Gangnam Cable TV's "The Docent Season 2 - Lee Jung-seob Episode," Nam Incheon Broadcasting's "Home Ground - Football Episode, Meeting 'Incheon UTD'," and DLive Guro Cable TV's "Road Documentary, Neighbourhood by Neighbourhood - Benttu, Kwon Soon-guk's Bolle Bolle Geumcheon-gu."

For the second quarter, winners were KCTV Jeju Broadcasting's "Samchun Maengsimheopseoyae Season 2 - Seogwipo City Hahyo Village Episode," CCS Chungbuk Broadcasting's "People Who Make Tomorrow - Central Police Academy Episode," and SKB West Busan Broadcasting's "Trip in Korea 7 - Best Friends' Extreme Trip."

In the special category, Seokyung Broadcasting's "The Spirit of Patriotic Defence Becomes Jinju's Asset" and kt HCN Gyeongbuk Broadcasting's "The Start of a Fair Choice: Ulleungdo Local Elections, Seven Days on the Ground" were selected.

Hee-man Hwang (황희만), chairman of the Korea Cable TV Association, said the winners took an in-depth look at the specific lives of local residents and structural problems faced by communities. He said the association would actively support efforts so that the value of content made by running the ground could reach a broader audience beyond local areas.
