KT to expand national quantum communications infrastructure with nationwide testbed
KT plans to expand its quantum cryptography communications testbed nationwide by 2028 and verify next-generation quantum communications technologies based on wireless and satellite links. KT said on Oct. 22 it will push ahead with a project led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency. The project expands the existing testbed centered on Seoul, Pangyo and Daejeon and supports verification and industrialization of next-generation quantum technology.

MSIT to expand quantum communications testbed to support commercialisation and overseas expansion
South Korea will expand its quantum communications demonstration base to support commercialisation and overseas expansion of domestic technology. The Ministry of Science and ICT said it held a kickoff briefing on the open quantum testbed upgrade and expansion project with the National Information Society Agency. The project will add three hubs for commercial, overseas and future uses from 2026 to 2028, with 7.4 billion won to be invested this year.

Kakao Impact Foundation holds senior AI competition, 64 advance to finals
Kakao Impact Foundation said on Oct. 19 it held the finals of its nationwide senior AI quiz competition on Oct. 15. A total of 64 people aged 60 and over took part after winning regional preliminaries, with an average finalist age of 71.9. Preliminaries ran for about four months at 150 senior welfare centers. The finals connected Kakao’s Pangyo facility with 16 centers online and were livestreamed.
