Qualcomm says agentic AI devices will underpin demand for 6G by creating connectivity needs different from smartphones, as on-device agents exchange inference between devices and the cloud. Durga Malladi said new device makers, including Alibaba, prioritise always-on cloud connectivity for inference over peak data rates. Qualcomm is preparing 6G around connectivity, wide-area sensing and network high-performance computing. It is keeping a 2029 commercialisation timeline and planning a 6G technology demonstration at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 benchmark results

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 benchmark results largely fell within the company’s expected ranges in a hands-on session at Snapdragon Summit, with small deviations. Geekbench CPU scores came in slightly below Qualcomm’s floor by less than 1 percent, while Speedometer 3.1 exceeded the upper bound. Antutu v12 was marginally under guidance. In GPU tests, most results met expectations, but Wild Life trailed, and AI results varied by test.

Tesla starts up first dedicated Semi truck mass production plant in Nevada

Tesla has opened its first dedicated plant to mass-produce its Semi heavy-duty electric truck in Sparks, Nevada, setting annual capacity at up to 50,000 units. The Semi was first built on the facility’s high-speed line in April and is now in official operation. The company has supplied limited volumes since 2022. Large orders have been announced by ZET Scale and Einride. Elon Musk has said Tesla plans to apply Full Self-Driving to the Semi.
