[DigitalToday reporter Daegeon Seok] Intel has entered the processor market dedicated to handheld gaming devices. Intel said on May 29 it unveiled the Intel Arc G-Series processors for portable gaming systems.

The new products come in 2 versions: Intel Arc G3 and Intel Arc G3 Extreme. They are based on the architecture of Intel Core Ultra Series 3, codenamed Panther Lake. They are manufactured on Intel's latest 18A node and include 2 P-cores, 8 E-cores and 4 low-power E-cores.

For graphics, they use integrated Intel Arc B390 graphics based on the latest Xe3 architecture. They also support XeSS 3, a graphics technology that combines AI-based upscaling, multiple frame interpolation and low-latency processing. On connectivity, they integrate Wi-Fi 7 R2, dual Bluetooth 6 and Intel Thunderbolt 4 with up to 40 Gbps bandwidth. The company said it plans to provide Day-0 drivers from launch day to support both new and existing games.

Handheld devices equipped with the Arc G-Series will be released sequentially through OEM partners from June 2026. Acer's Predator Atlas 8, MSI's Claw 8 EX AI+ and OneXPlayer are set to be the first products to include them. Intel and its partners plan to disclose additional specifications at Computex 2026.

Dan Rogers (댄 로저스), vice president and general manager of PC products at Intel's Client Computing Group, said: "In a market that demands tradeoffs between performance and convenience, Intel will deliver uncompromising performance to gamers through the Intel Arc G-Series, with cutting-edge graphics technology such as XeSS 3 and breakthrough power efficiency that enables longer battery life."
