Nokia beats market expectations as fibre optic business for AI data centres lifts results

Nokia reported first-quarter results that beat market expectations, led by its fibre optic business connecting AI data centres rather than handsets. Comparable operating profit rose 54 percent to 281 million euros, and shares rose about 7 percent in Helsinki, the highest since 2010. Optical networks grew 20 percent and the company secured about 1 billion euros of new orders from hyperscalers. Nokia raised its 2026 network infrastructure growth outlook.
