National R&D misconduct found in 209 cases; recovery decisions total 1.35 percent of funding

Misconduct such as improper use of research funds and paper manipulation was found in national research and development projects, but decisions to recover funds amounted to 1.35 percent of total funding, data showed. From 2021 to August this year, 209 projects were sanctioned, with total funding of 240.4 billion won. Recovery was set at 3.25 billion won, and 85 cases had zero recovery. Additional penalties totalled 2.27 billion won, or 0.94 percent.

MSIT launches K-Moonshot semiconductor committee to push next-generation technology development

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT on Tuesday launched an operating committee and a technology committee for the K-Moonshot semiconductor programme and discussed a technology roadmap and directions to secure next-generation foundational chip technologies. The programme aims to overcome limits in semiconductor performance and power efficiency through full-stack integration across devices, processes, memory, packaging and systems. The committees will set plans, coordinate projects and support roadmap planning, progress checks and integrated demonstrations.

AhnLab supports N2SF deployment at National Research Foundation for generative AI, internet use on work network

AhnLab said on Sunday it built a security system at the National Research Foundation of Korea to enable use of generative AI and the internet within its work network under the Korea Internet & Security Agency’s 2026 National Network Security Framework (N2SF) support project. As lead firm of a consortium, AhnLab has worked with MoniterLab, Dream Security and SecureOne since June. The system applies N2SF models for generative AI and internet use, and uses graded controls for data transfers.
