Elice Group to build modular AI data center based on Nvidia B300

Elice Group plans to build a modular AI data center equipped with 2,560 Nvidia B300 graphics processing units, using a hot-water cooling method and outside-air cooling technology. The company said it was selected to participate in a government-backed program led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and NIPA to strengthen AI computing resource use. It targets a power usage effectiveness of about 1.1 and will deploy 640 GPUs in each of four buildings.

DAT firms shift en masse to AI data centres, results still uncertain

At least 12 digital asset treasury companies (DAT) have shifted their businesses to AI data centres in recent months as the cryptocurrency market downturn drags on, but results have been weak. Bloomberg reported that K Wave Media shares have fallen about 71 percent since its May pivot from a bitcoin-holding strategy to data centre development. Other firms that merged or rebranded also saw share declines of about 33 percent.

Qualcomm to raise chip prices amid component shortages; forecast misses market expectations

Qualcomm will broadly raise chip prices from Sept. 1, citing shortages of memory and other components. CNBC reported that its fiscal third-quarter results met market expectations, but its forecast for the current quarter fell short. The company projected adjusted earnings per share of $2.05 to $2.25 and revenue of $9.7 billion to $10.5 billion. Net profit fell 25 percent year on year. Handset chip revenue declined, while automotive and IoT revenue rose.
