KT Cloud said on Tuesday it signed a "next-generation AI data centre strategic technology partnership" with global AI infrastructure company Vertiv. It said the companies will cooperate on core AI data centre infrastructure technologies, focusing on power, cooling and modular solutions.
The two companies will jointly take part from the design stage of AI data centres promoted by KT and review compatibility in advance among power infrastructure, liquid cooling and modular solutions. Based on that, they plan to design infrastructure optimised for high-density GPU environments and improve stability and efficiency during the build-out process.
The companies will also jointly review ways to apply high-efficiency cooling technologies, including liquid cooling. They also agreed to pursue technology cooperation that can be applied to next-generation AI data centres.
KT Cloud plans to deploy Vertiv's modular infrastructure solutions at its Gunsan AI data centre to improve construction efficiency. It also plans to combine Vertiv's global power and cooling technologies and modular infrastructure solutions with its own data centre capabilities built through the construction and operation of data centres including the Mok-dong data centre and the Gasan AI data centre.
KT Cloud CEO Bong-gyun Kim (김봉균) said, "As AI infrastructure rapidly becomes more highly integrated and more power intensive, data centre power and cooling technologies are becoming key factors that determine the stability and scalability of AI services." He said, "By combining Vertiv's global technology capabilities with KT Cloud's accumulated expertise in building and operating data centres, we will enhance technological competitiveness in next-generation AI infrastructure and reliably support the expansion of KT Group's 1 GW-scale AI data centre."
