Woori Bank, industry ministry seek 8th cohort for Rising Leaders 300 programme

Woori Bank and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy will recruit companies for the eighth cohort of the Rising Leaders 300 programme until Aug. 14, the bank said on July 27. The programme selects mid-sized firms and candidates with technology and growth potential to provide financial and non-financial services. Selected firms can receive loans of up to 30 billion won each and an interest-rate discount of up to 1.0 percentage point in the first year.

Saemangeum to become physical AI, robotics hub; Han PM says Hyundai Motor investment begins new direction

South Korean Prime Minister Han Sung-sook (한성숙) visited Saemangeum in North Jeolla province as her first trip to the region since taking office and discussed support for Hyundai Motor Group investment and measures to foster physical AI and robotics industries. She held a corporate meeting with tenant firms, experts, government ministries and provincial officials. The government plans to revise the Saemangeum master plan around a concrete 10-year development blueprint and set up a pan-government support system.

Elice Group builds edge AI infrastructure at Busan shipbuilding industrial complex

Elice Group said on Wednesday it will take part in a project led by the Busan headquarters of the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation to build an edge AI data centre for the Busan shipbuilding and marine industrial complex. The project is part of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s 2026 industrial complex edge AIDC pilot programme. Elice Group will supply two modular AI data centres and its AI cloud infrastructure virtualization solution, and plans a disaster recovery system linked to its cloud.
