Kakao prepares KakaoTalk-based integrated membership to bundle affiliate services

Kakao is preparing an integrated membership programme centred on KakaoTalk that links services and user benefits across its affiliates. Industry sources said the company is reviewing a membership covering shopping and commerce, mobility, content and entertainment, and finance and payments, with participation by key units under the new KakaoAI entity. Benefits and fees have not been set, and Kakao is also considering linking external services.

YouTube tops average monthly usage time among video and music platforms in South Korea

YouTube is the video and music application used the longest by South Koreans, a Wiseapp-Retail survey showed. The survey of Android and iOS smartphone users found YouTube logged an average 113.6 billion minutes a month in January to May 2026. Netflix followed with 5.61 billion minutes, ahead of YouTube Music, Melon and Spotify. YouTube, YouTube Music and Spotify rose steadily over four years, with Spotify up 1,200 percent.

SK Broadband to hold 2026 Blossom Youth Music Festival as Dingo Music joins

SK Broadband said on May 14 it will hold the 2026 Blossom Youth Music Festival with LoveFNC, Dreamus Company and MakeUs. Launched in 2022, the festival marks its fifth edition this year, with about 1,000 youths having taken part over the past four years. Dingo Music, which has 5.5 million subscribers, newly joins this year. Eight finalist teams will attend a two-day camp in Chuncheon and receive mentoring from FNC Entertainment professionals. Original songs will be released as official tracks and registered on major platforms.
