Kakao Entertainment said on March 26 it has officially launched a co-CEO system with Ko Jeong-hee (고정희) and Jang Yoon-joong (장윤중) after completing the appointment process through a regular shareholders meeting and board meeting on March 25.
Kakao Entertainment plans to enhance intellectual property (IP) and platform synergies and focus on expanding its global fandom.
Kakao Entertainment reorganised its operating structure and created a chief platform officer (CPO) role to oversee its platform services business, along with a Global Growth Center to expand its global business. Ko and Jang will each directly lead the organisations to accelerate business execution.
Ko will also serve as CPO. Based on data and artificial intelligence (AI) expertise, she will focus on enhancing key platform services such as Melon, KakaoPage and Berriz. The company aims to provide personalised content experiences and secure global competitiveness for its platforms.
Jang will also serve as head of the Global Growth Center and will flesh out a global growth roadmap. He will strengthen business competitiveness across IP planning, production and distribution in areas including music, story and media, and will pursue IP expansion and diversification. He will also directly work to identify new business opportunities.
Ko and Jang said, "We will enhance synergies by combining content IP competitiveness and platform capabilities specialised for entertainment, and expand the global fandom ecosystem for K-culture."
