Kakao said on March 24 it has revamped its KakaoTools service within “ChatGPT for Kakao” and will work with external partners to expand its artificial intelligence (AI) agent ecosystem.

Kakao said it added partner services to KakaoTools including Olive Young, Musinsa, Hyundai Department Store, SamjjeomSam, MyRealTrip, Saramin and Woori's Table. Users can also use affiliate services such as KakaoBank and Kakao Golf Reservation.

KakaoTools is an AI agent service that links Kakao’s internal and external services. It has provided services mainly centered on affiliates including Gift, Reservations, Kakao Map, Talk Calendar, Melon, Kakao T and Kakao Pay. After the revamp, users can use services such as beauty, fashion, distribution, tax filing, travel, jobs and food in a single chat window.

It also structured how users explore services and created a space to design agent environments. Kakao added a dedicated KakaoTools “Home” menu, offering curation sections such as popularity charts and recommended services. In the “MY” menu, users can set and manage additions and removals to activate services tailored to their preferences.

Kakao plans to expand cooperation with partners to raise the usefulness of KakaoTools and advance its AI agent-based “everyday AI” strategy.

You Yong-ha (유용하), performance leader at Kakao AI Connect, said, “Through collaboration with partners across industries, we aim to create an environment where AI agents become part of users’ daily lives.” He added, “By expanding the AI agent ecosystem, we plan to complete a virtuous cycle structure in which user convenience improves.”
