YouTube is the video and music application used the longest by South Koreans.

On June 17, Wiseapp-Retail said its sample survey of South Korean smartphone users on Android and iOS showed that the video and music subscription application used the longest by South Koreans in January to May 2026 was YouTube, with an average monthly usage time of 113.6 billion minutes.

It was followed by Netflix with 5.61 billion minutes, YouTube Music with 800 million minutes, Melon with 460 million minutes and Spotify with 390 million minutes.

Among them, average monthly usage time for YouTube, YouTube Music and Spotify increased steadily over the past four years, the survey found.

Spotify showed the largest growth in usage time compared with four years earlier, rising 1,200 percent to 390 million minutes this year from 30 million minutes in the same period of 2022. It was followed by YouTube Music up 185.7 percent, YouTube up 26.4 percent and Netflix up 19.1 percent.

The survey was conducted by Wiseapp-Retail, a market and competitor analysis solution based on real-time application and payment data, using a sample of South Korean Android and iOS smartphone users. The survey covered major platforms that provide content and real-time streaming services, with at least 5 million application users as of May.
