Krafton said on Thursday it will hold a large-scale fan event, the “PUBG 9th Anniversary Festival”, to mark the ninth anniversary of the launch of PUBG: Battlegrounds.
The PUBG 9th Anniversary Festival will be held on March 28 at Korea University’s Hwajeong Gymnasium. The event is organised under the main theme “STILL HERE, ALLDAY” to commemorate time with PUBG: Battlegrounds users who have shared the battlefield over nine years.
A range of programmes will be offered for fans at the venue. They include an offline experience zone made up of hands-on booths and mini-games, as well as a fan meetup bringing together the PUBG: Battlegrounds development team, users and partner influencers. Stage events will include an orchestral performance marking the ninth anniversary, emote dances and a magic show by illusionist Lee Eun-gyeol (이은결), among other programmes. The finale stage is set to feature a solo performance by the group “All Day Project”.
All visitors on the day will receive a welcome kit comprising a ninth anniversary limited-edition cheering light stick, a metal dog tag keyring, a sticker pack and a 2,000 G-Coin coupon.
Ticket sales will be handled through Melon Ticket. Presales open at 8 p.m. on Thursday, and general sales start at 8 p.m. on March 6.
PUBG: Battlegrounds was first released on March 23, 2017 as Steam Early Access. It is a leading battle royale title that recorded 3.25 million concurrent users, the highest in Steam history. It has since expanded with various content and platforms, positioning itself as the centre of the PUBG IP franchise.
