NIA discusses AI legal and institutional tasks in healthcare, education and labour
The National Information Society Agency (NIA) held an open seminar on Wednesday to discuss legal and institutional responses to AI in healthcare, education and labour. The event in Seoul was part of the Intelligent Information Society Legal and Institutional Forum run with legal, industry, academic and research experts. Participants reviewed AI’s impact on people’s lives, rights and opportunities by sector and discussed reforms, including protections for human dignity and fundamental rights.

Broadcast watchdog warns KBS Joy over repeated airing of child abuse CCTV footage
South Korea\'s Broadcast Media and Communications Commission held a plenary meeting in Seoul on Sunday and voted to issue a statutory \"caution\" to KBS Joy\'s entertainment program for repeatedly airing unfiltered CCTV footage from a child abuse case in which a 3-year-old died. The panel also issued a \"caution\" to an NS Home Shopping broadcast for potentially misleading viewers about a hair serum\'s effects and for overstating cumulative sales.

Korea commission steps up response to false manipulated information, boosts platform accountability
South Korea\'s Broadcasting Media and Communications Commission plans to upgrade its response system to false and manipulated information under a revised information network law. It will push to strengthen accountability for large platforms and seek to set up a transparency centre to support fact-checking. The commission also plans to introduce labelling for online AI-generated content and raise transparency around recommendation algorithms. It is reviewing measures to regulate youth SNS use and preparing pay-TV regulatory changes and other media policy steps.
