OpenAI adds GPT Voice to ChatGPT desktop app, can read Mac screens

OpenAI has added voice work features to the ChatGPT desktop app, enabling users to hold conversations while carrying out tasks through GPT Voice. The update is based on the upgraded voice mode GPT-Live that was first applied on mobile this month. GPT Voice is available on macOS and Windows 11, while Mac users can use Appshots so ChatGPT can reference the active window for better context. The feature also links to computer-use functions, local files, plugins and iOS remote capability.

Apple signals major MacBook Pro, iMac overhaul, opening OLED, touchscreen era

Apple is expected to carry out a major overhaul of its Mac lineup from late this year through 2028, including MacBook Pro and iMac updates. Bloomberg reported the company is preparing staggered updates for MacBook Air, Mac mini and Mac Studio. A high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with OLED and a touchscreen is expected from late this year to early next year. Desktop launches may depend on memory chip supply.

Apple Upgrade to launch as early as July 28, ushering in monthly subscriptions for iPhones

Apple is expected to start a new subscription-style program, Apple Upgrade, as early as July 28, offering major iPhone, Mac, iPad and Apple Watch models on monthly payments. Bloomberg reported Apple is preparing the relaunch with financial services firm Klarna. The program is expected to allow upgrades during the contract and options to keep or return devices at lease end, with likely terms of 24 or 36 months.
