Hecto Group joins state project to develop AI medical devices for early lung cancer detection

Hecto Group is developing AI medical devices to help detect lung cancer early and predict recurrence through a state-backed digital healthcare project. Its HAI unit joined the OnKoTECT consortium led by Seoul National University Bundang Hospital under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy\'s Bio Industry Technology Development programme. The consortium will receive 15.5 billion won in research funding through December 2030 to develop and commercialise AI for early diagnosis and recurrence prediction of pancreatic and lung cancers.

Three South Korean AI startups target global AI market using Oracle Cloud

Korea Oracle said VMIC, PromptTown and KAB Labs joined Oracle’s startup cooperation program Miracle and enhanced industry-specific work processes using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. It said Miracle is jointly run by Oracle, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, KISED and Seoul National University of Science and Technology. The companies reported lower infrastructure costs, faster processing speeds and plans to support customers across global hubs.

Naver Cloud unveils lightweight omnimodal model optimised for defence

Naver Cloud said on Sunday it had unveiled HyperCLOVA X SEED 4B, a lightweight omnimodal model optimised for defence use. The company showcased the model at a military science and technology conference held in Jeju from June 10 to 12, presenting real-time analysis cases in edge environments and a closed-network defence AI roadmap. It said the model processes image, video, audio and text and was trained on data tailored to South Korea’s defence environment.
