Science ministry launches self-driving lab industry-academia-research council to build K-Moonshot foundation

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said it will hold a launch ceremony on Aug. 11 in Seoul for an industry-academia-research council on self-driving laboratories. The ministry described self-driving labs as platforms that link equipment, robots and AI to automate repeated experiments around the clock. The government sees them as a core foundation for K-Moonshot and plans to build a closed-loop system spanning hypothesis, experiment, analysis and revised hypotheses.

L&F Q2 operating profit 20.8 billion won, returns to profit from year ago

L&F posted second-quarter revenue of 885 billion won and operating profit of 20.8 billion won, returning to profit from a year earlier, it said on Wednesday. Revenue rose 70.2 percent from a year earlier and 19.7 percent from the previous quarter, supported by record shipments and higher cathode material prices. Operating profit fell 82.2 percent from the prior quarter due to start-up costs, inventory valuation losses and other one-off factors.

ChatGPT advertisers top 820 as OpenAI steps up monetisation with 1 billion users

OpenAI is accelerating the expansion of advertising on the ChatGPT mobile app as major consumer brands join an ecosystem once dominated by tech firms, an analysis said. Sensor Tower data cited by Business Insider show hourly ad impressions in July roughly doubled from April, while the number of advertisers rose to more than 820 from about 300. OpenAI shows ads to free users and those on its $8-a-month plan.
