Korean brokerages step up tokenised securities business beyond fractional investing to bonds, funds
Korean brokerages are expanding tokenised securities businesses from account management for fractional investing to issuance infrastructure for bonds, funds and other financial products. The Financial Services Commission said it will pursue phased tokenisation of stocks, bonds and funds, starting in February 2027 with private money market funds, private corporate bonds, unlisted shares using trusts and publicly offered fractional investment securities. Firms are building joint platforms and proprietary systems, while overseas examples are also growing.

South Korea\'s financial authorities will expand tokenised securities beyond fractional investment to cover existing securities such as stocks, bonds and funds. The Financial Services Commission said a phased tokenisation will begin when the system takes effect on Feb. 4, 2027, starting with private funds for institutional investors, private bonds and unlisted shares. It also outlined investor protection measures, over-the-counter trading limits, and requirements for issuer account managers.

Koscom, Hyundai Motor Securities cooperate on security token platform business
Koscom said on Tuesday it signed a memorandum of understanding with Hyundai Motor Securities on joint use of a security token platform and broader business cooperation. The agreement covers system links for Koscom’s shared platform, development of underlying assets and products, detailed issuance and account-management processes, joint tests reflecting legal and investor-protection requirements, and information exchanges to help expand the market. Hyundai Motor Securities’ participation lifts the number of partner brokerages to 13.
