South Korea's financial authorities and the Korea Exchange will for the first time stage a large-scale integrated investor relations event and conference. It will discuss key policies including reforms of the capital and foreign exchange markets and strengthening the competitiveness of the KOSDAQ. It will also expand investment exchanges between global institutional investors and major listed Korean companies.

The Financial Services Commission and the Korea Exchange said on Monday that Korea Premium Week 2026 will be held for three weeks from Sept. 28 to Oct. 16.

The FSC and the exchange will co-host the event. A total of 42 institutions, including stock market-related bodies, the financial investment industry and media organisations, and 55 listed companies will take part. The event will be held for the first time this year, and there are plans to make it regular.

Investor relations events and conferences related to South Korea's capital market have so far been held separately by institution, and there has been criticism that this has dispersed the attention of overseas institutional investors.

Financial authorities plan to build it into an integrated event that concentrates capital market-related events within a set period to publicise the competitiveness of South Korea's stock market to overseas investors, like Japan Weeks and Taiwan Weeks. Japan has run a similar event since 2023, and Taiwan since last year.

The event will be split into a core week and follow-up weeks, with about 25 programmes. On the first day, Sept. 28, it will hold an opening ceremony and a global conference to discuss capital market reform measures, results of corporate governance improvements and foreign exchange market reform measures.

The opening ceremony is set to be attended by Japan Financial Services Agency Commissioner Yutaka Ito (이토 유타카), Jude Abdel Majid (주드 압델 마지드), co-head of the Global Partners Office at BlackRock, and Kevin Sneader (케빈 스니더), Asia Pacific president at Goldman Sachs. Global capital market officials including the UN Principles for Responsible Investment, Nasdaq, S&P, the Asia Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association and Vanguard will also take part.

On Sept. 29, discussions will continue on capital market policy for the "Korea Premium era". Key agenda items include upgrading capital market infrastructure, including extended trading hours and a shorter settlement cycle, strengthening the competitiveness of the KOSDAQ and measures for qualitative growth of the exchange-traded product market.

The event will also broaden points of contact between major Korean companies and overseas investors. Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, Samsung Biologics, Doosan Enerbility, Hanwha Aerospace, Shinhan Financial Group and Robotis will take part in company briefings and one-on-one meetings with global institutional investors.

Domestic and overseas pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, global long funds and hedge funds will also discuss ways to strengthen the competitiveness of South Korea's stock market through closed-door roundtables.

Events for individual investors will also be held. On Sept. 30, Gun-young Oh (오건영), head of Shinhan Premier Pathfinder, Seung-hwan Yeom (염승환), director at LS Securities, Sung-il Kim (김성일), chief executive at Uprise Investment Advisory, and Dong-yeob Kim (김동엽), managing director at Mirae Asset's Investment and Pension Center, will introduce life-cycle asset management strategies from building assets for young people to pension investment.

Promotion booths for financial investment products such as individual savings accounts, exchange-traded funds and retirement pensions will also be operated along with briefings by listed companies.

An S&P Global seminar, a Healthy Stock Market Forum covering the eradication of unfair trading and investor protection, a derivatives and maritime finance seminar to be held in Busan, and a global conference related to token securities will also be held.

In the second week, the focus will be on growth companies such as those on the KOSDAQ and KONEX. Events planned include a KOSDAQ market diagnosis and industry outlook seminar, investor relations for KONEX and KOSDAQ listed companies, and a seminar on revitalising the venture exit market.

In the final week, securities firms and asset managers will continue the events.

Mirae Asset, Samsung, Daishin, Yuanta, Kiwoom, Korea Investment & Securities and Hanwha Investment & Securities, as well as Mirae Asset Global Investments and Samsung Asset Management, will hold events on market outlooks and investment strategies.

The Korea Financial Investment Association, Korea Securities Finance and the Korea Securities Depository will hold a global bond forum on Oct. 15 to discuss domestic and overseas bond markets and ways for foreign investors to use South Korean government bonds.

The FSC and the exchange plan to make the event regular and foster it as a communication channel between overseas investors and South Korea's capital market.

They also plan to focus on improving global investors' access to the domestic market by concentrating policy, investor relations and investment events that were previously held separately within a single period, and on comprehensively publicising the competitiveness of South Korea's stock market.
