EV charging costs depend on time-of-use rates and efficiency, analysis says
An analysis said EV charging costs can be much lower than many drivers assume. It said the key drivers of running costs are time-of-use household electricity rates and EVs’ higher energy efficiency compared with gasoline cars, not fast-charging prices. Korea’s home charging rates vary sharply by time band, and charging off-peak can cut costs. The analysis also cited perception gaps, cheaper Level 2 charging and cases of free charging.

LG CNS steps up KEPCO next-generation ISP project
LG CNS said on May 11 it won Korea Electric Power Corp\'s information strategy planning consulting project to present an execution strategy and technology roadmap for building a next-generation sales and distribution system. The system covers customer billing and collection and distribution design and construction management. LG CNS said it will overhaul work processes and design an AI- and data-based framework, including automation to reduce manual and repetitive tasks.

AIDC special act clears science and ICT panel; power exemption debate looms in judiciary review
South Korea’s National Assembly Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee on April 14 passed a special act on AI data centres (AIDC). The bill must still be reviewed by the Legislation and Judiciary Committee and approved at a plenary session. The consolidated proposal focuses on easing power and licensing rules, including exemptions for non-capital AIDCs and broader direct power purchase contracts. Disputes are expected over expanded power-related exemptions.
