Naver Pay (Npay) is joining hands with Korea Electric Power Corp to push a digital transition of electricity bill billing and payment procedures. From later this year, it plans to expand services so users can check electricity bill statements in the Naver app and pay immediately with Npay.
Naver Pay said on Aug. 11 it signed a business agreement with Korea Electric Power to digitise electricity bill billing and collection.
Under the agreement, the two companies plan to advance the electricity bill payment service on a mobile basis. The related service is set to be rolled out in earnest from later this year.
Specifically, they will cooperate on sending electricity bill statements through Naver e-Documents on the Naver mobile app, building an Npay simple-payment collection system, and marketing and promotion to support the digital transition of statements.
It plans to enable users to pay electricity bills immediately via Npay simple payment and apply for recurring payments through Korea Electric Power's online collection channel, KEPCO ON, or QR codes inserted in paper statements.
The mobile statement delivery and inquiry service will also be linked with the Naver app. Users will be able to receive electricity bill statements in the Naver app, check and manage details, and pay with Npay.
It plans to support both payments with Npay points and money, and payments linked to credit cards.
Lee Hyang-cheol (이향철), leader responsible for Npay pay services, said, "We expect users' convenience will increase." He added, "We will continue to broaden the payment experience so Npay can be used across various points of contact in daily life."
