Korea Broadcasters Association holds 2026 annual general meeting
The Korea Broadcasters Association said on April 3 it held its 2026 annual general meeting and board meeting in Yeouido and resolved joint cooperation among 39 member companies on responding to AI and improving discriminatory regulations. The meeting approved 2025 results and accounts and passed the 2026 business plan and budget. It confirmed board renewals and named Ahn Hyung-joon as next chairman from August.

Bamisimwi forms panel to review broadcasts for 9th local elections
The Broadcasting Media Communications Deliberation Committee on Monday approved the lineup of the election broadcast deliberation panel for the 9th nationwide local elections. The panel is a consultative body set up under the Public Official Election Act to ensure fairness in election broadcasts. Its term runs from March 24 to July 3, 30 days after election day. It will hold an appointment ceremony and first meeting after March 24 and elect a chair and deputy.

Korea\'s three terrestrial broadcasters file copyright infringement lawsuit against OpenAI
Korea\'s terrestrial broadcasters KBS, MBC and SBS have filed a lawsuit against OpenAI seeking an injunction to halt alleged copyright infringement and damages over the unauthorized use of their news content, the Korea Broadcasters Association said on Feb. 23. The broadcasters said OpenAI used their news content without permission to train the generative AI service ChatGPT. The association said OpenAI signed paid licences with overseas media groups but refused talks with the Korean broadcasters.
