Draft enforcement decree for false, manipulated information law released; platforms like YouTube, Naver, Coupang in scope

The Broadcasting and Media Communications Commission released a draft enforcement decree for the revised Information and Communications Network Act, set to take effect on July 7. The draft would require self-regulation by platforms with 1 million or more daily active users over the prior three months and apply punitive damages to profit channels meeting specified posting, revenue and audience thresholds. It also covers open markets, delivery apps and open chat rooms.

Kakao to adopt Google DeepMind\'s SynthID to block AI deepfakes, false information

Kakao is partnering with Google DeepMind to apply the SynthID digital watermarking solution to its in-house AI model, Kanana, to improve transparency for AI-generated content and prevent misuse such as deepfakes. Kakao said the partnership is an early global adoption case and the first among Asian companies. The company plans to roll out SynthID from the second half of this year, starting with the KakaoTalk Kanana Template feature.

Coocon launches We-Bridge non-face-to-face document submission solution to simplify loan, insurance contracts

Coocon said on May 19 it has launched We-Bridge, a solution that automatically submits required supporting documents remotely during loan and insurance contract processes. The company said the service allows submission of various public documents with identity verification, improving convenience for financial consumers and operational efficiency for financial firms. Built on Coocon’s data linkage technology, it digitises the entire process from document requests to collection and submission.
