Global chip industry urges U.S. not to intervene in memory market

Global memory chipmakers including Samsung Electronics, SK hynix and Micron have formally asked the U.S. government to refrain from intervening in supplies for specific industries as demand surges on the spread of AI data centres. SEMI sent a letter to U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent opposing policies that could distort the memory market. The group supports tax incentives to expand production but warned government direction of prices, capacity or suppliers could prolong shortages.
