Self-driving lidar maker Luminar headed for breakup as assets go to new owners
A late-stage bidding scramble erupted over the sale of key businesses at U.S. automotive lidar specialist Luminar, which is in bankruptcy proceedings. An unidentified bidder submitted a $33 million offer just before a hearing, but Luminar selected MicroVision\'s $33 million bid as the winning offer and the court approved it. Luminar\'s lidar business will go to MicroVision and its semiconductor unit will be sold to Quantum Computing Inc. The deals are expected to close within weeks.

Korea Investment Management\'s ACE KRX Physical Gold ETF net assets top 4.5 trillion won
Korea Investment Management said on Monday that net assets of its ACE KRX Physical Gold ETF, the country’s first physically backed gold exchange-traded fund, have surpassed 4.5 trillion won. Based on the Jan. 26 close, assets stood at 4.65 trillion won, rising more than 600 billion won in 10 trading sessions since passing 4 trillion won on Jan. 12, amid steady retail inflows.

FSS extends inspection of Coupang financial units, probes data leaks and high interest rates
South Korea\'s Financial Supervisory Service will extend its inspection of Coupang\'s financial units, Coupang Pay and Coupang Financial, through Jan. 30. The probe focuses on the legality of personal data management and whether loan interest rates for merchant partners are appropriate. Regulators are scrutinising the One ID system, which automatically creates a Coupang Pay account when users join Coupang. They are also examining a merchant loan product that has faced criticism over high rates.
