Retail tech company Kurly said on Monday it has launched an image-generation service called AI Studio that uses Google generative AI.
AI Studio creates themed profile photos, such as dolls, movie actors and hanbok, when users upload a picture. It is available in the Kurly app. One free pass is provided each day. Users can receive additional passes if they share it with friends.
The service began as a side project among Kurly employees in mid-December. It was officially introduced on Jan. 12. It generated a cumulative total of about 70,000 images in a week.
Kurly has implemented various features to increase customer time spent, including strengthening community functions through the in-app Lounge and introducing the AI diet management app Lucion. The company said AI Studio was also planned to offer an enjoyable user experience beyond simple shopping.
A Kurly official said the company plans to continue efforts to enrich customers' lifestyles by integrating AI technology as a retail tech company.
