U.S. asks Ford, GM if they can boost arms output over EVs

The Trump administration\'s Defense Department is sounding out U.S. automakers on whether they can temporarily defer electric vehicle production plans and increase output of weapons and military supplies. EVs post highest five-year depreciation at 57 percent; hybrids differ

Electric vehicles depreciate much faster than internal combustion cars, with a five-year average value loss of 57.2 percent, InsideEV reported, citing iSeeCars research. That compares with 41.8 percent for all cars. Hybrids had the lowest five-year depreciation at 35.4 percent. EVs made up half of the 10 fastest-depreciating models and none of the 25 slowest. Some models, including the Volkswagen ID.4 and Nissan Leaf, showed steeper declines.
