Brokerages\' Q2 net profit tops 5.2 trillion won, up 82 percent on stock market boom
South Korean brokerages posted more than 5 trillion won in net profit in the second quarter, helped by a strong stock market and higher trading value. Net profit at 61 brokerages rose 20.0 percent from the previous quarter to 5.19 trillion won, up 82.1 percent from a year earlier. Commission income increased 32.5 percent, led by brokerage fees. Wealth management, investment banking and proprietary trading earnings also improved.

South Korea\'s banks are ramping up open recruitment for the second half of the year, refining hiring by job type rather than selecting general candidates in bulk. Major lenders are keeping a framework focused on finance and sales staffing while carving out separate tracks for regional sales, corporate finance, AI and platform development, information security and accounting. Some are also adding or expanding specialist and global tracks and recruiting experienced professionals alongside entry-level hires.

Hyundai Motor Securities has reorganised its investment banking division, separating structured finance and corporate finance to strengthen competitiveness. The company plans to bolster stability in its existing project financing and alternative investment business while pursuing a selective, risk-managed approach focused on high-quality deals. It also aims to expand corporate finance, starting with the debt capital market and later extending into equity capital market areas such as IPOs and mergers and acquisitions.
